JUSTIN CAMPBELL

PRODUCER | PRODUCTION DESIGNER | ART DIRECTOR

Justin Campbell is a talented production designer from Mississauga, Ontario, with an extensive portfolio spanning music videos, short films, commercials, TV series, feature films, and large-scale installations. Born biracial with Jamaican heritage, Justin began his journey in production design by working on hip-hop and dancehall music videos. His deep understanding of the music scene and strong networking skills quickly propelled him to produce videos for major acts in Toronto, including Buju Banton, Sean Paul, and Savanah Ré.

Justin’s career took a significant step forward when he received the opportunity to production design the third season of the series True Dating Stories. This project introduced him to new challenges, including tight timelines and strict budgets. However, it became a valuable learning experience, enabling him to build lasting relationships with the production crew—a foundation that continues to support his work today.

Since then, Justin’s career has flourished. He worked closely with Champlain Media for two years, taking on roles such as production designer, art director, and set decorator. His diverse body of work now includes an impressive range of commercials and music videos, most notably as the art director for Jesse Reyez’s Juno Award-winning video When No One’s in the Room. He has also contributed to large-scale creative installations for companies like Wattpad, Google, and Fan Expo.

One of Justin's key advantages in the industry is his ability to maintain a consistent crew, with many members collaborating on multiple projects. This continuity has been enhanced by his acquisition of a 5,000-square-foot warehouse in Hamilton, which serves as a creative hub for his team. The space allows them to fabricate custom items for sets and installations, house props and large set decor pieces, and significantly reduce rental and purchase costs. This setup not only streamlines production but also provides two critical resources: time and storage.

These elements form the backbone of Justin’s success, enabling him and his team to tackle an impressive number of projects while minimizing burnout and turnover. His unique combination of creativity, resourcefulness, and team management ensures that Justin remains a sought-after production designer in the industry.
